Recently, the Battery Associates (B.A) visited Shanghai Dongjian Digital Energy Technology Group Co., Ltd. to discuss the company’s advancements in sodium-ion battery research and the future outlook of the industry. During the visit, Dr. Simon Engelke, Founder and Chairman of the B.A, toured Dongjian's solar and storage exhibit, where he viewed a range of sodium-ion products, including cylindrical and prismatic sodium-ion batteries, portable outdoor energy storage systems, as well as energy storage system models and real-world solar-storage applications. He was particularly impressed by the advanced sodium battery technology and Dongjian’s unique “lithium-first, sodium-next” business model.
In a follow-up interview, Dr. Engelke had an in-depth discussion with Dongjian Group's Vice President and General Manager of Solar & Storage, Pan Lei, and Deputy General Manager, Xue Wei. The conversation focused on various critical aspects of the sodium-ion battery industry, including long-term price trends, raw material supply stability, supply chain management, technological maturity, market competitiveness, and product safety. As a sodium-ion battery expert, Dr. Engelke noted that most Western companies are still in the planning stages of sodium technology development, but this visit left him confident and excited about China’s rapid commercialization of sodium-ion batteries.
Dongjian expressed its gratitude for the B.A’s visit and looks forward to more opportunities for international collaboration. The company remains committed to continuous innovation and open cooperation, exploring new technologies and business models in the energy storage field to contribute to global energy and environmental sustainability.
